The Women were back in action today and returned to form with a nice 8-4 win over Canada. They advance to take on Australia on their final day of competition on Friday. Figures even with the tough loss to Russia they'd still meet two of their bigger rivals in this tourney in Canada and Australia. USA controlled this game throughout and now they'll try and finish things off strong with Australia, a team they beat to claim the Gold at the World Cup last summer in New Zealand. Things got a little chippy towards the end of the match which should add some intensity to an already intense rivalry come the Pan American Games this fall. The men are back at it tomorrow against Germany looking to avenge a loss earlier in the tournament and also hoping to get stay in contention for fifth place.
There is a neat little British themed pub here on the hotel grounds that can be a fun place to relax, they have tvs showing the games and American/British music playing like the Boss who we pay homage to in the blog title and then of course the Beatles. Today also marked one year until London. Crazy to think that if things go well one year from now this blog will be coming to you live from London. But first some qualifications to take care of. Swimming continues to roll on, I'm hoping to get out and see some races before it is all said and done. The big talk around here has been Ryan Lochte beating Michael Phelps in their recent showdown. The swimmers themselves seem to be taking this with a dose of reality knowing each race can be different and of course there are still major events to come.
The music in general has stepped up in Shanghai. After two weeks of instrumentals of the same Lionel Richie song (not joking) today we got some actual songs with words we knew during dinner. Also at the pool, the in pool dj who has been unable to really get things going has started to break out the pop music as of late including Usher and Mobb Deep. Perhaps she didn't want to go out too heavy early and instead save some stuff for the stretch run. What her true strategy is I will never know.

Back tomorrow with more.
