Double Gold Medal Games On The Way

Well thus far everything that could be hoped for in terms of success at the Pan Am Games has happened. Neither the men nor the women have lost a game and now both have advanced to the Gold Medal final thanks to the men defeating Cuba 12-2 earlier today. After two games that were physical and perhaps closer than expected Team USA came out today fired up. Right out of the gate the team was pumped up after goals with each player scoring getting his teammates fired up...something you don't always see in the first and second goal of the game. Before you knew it the squad was leading 8-0 and on their way to victory.

In the final they will meet Canada, who was able to come back to over take Brazil in the final. The two will get together to close out the water polo action at 5pm cst on Saturday. Back to the pool tomorrow for what should be a stellar matchup, the USA Women vs Canada. That is also set for 5pm cst. If you can get to the computer to watch the streaming I would recommend it, there is also the twitter following option. Here is the webstreaming link if needed.

Got a nice picture of a slam dunk on the break

After the water polo I headed over to the basketball venue to check out some of Brazil vs USA in men's hoops. A bit of a sloppy first half from what I saw. The United States eventually pulled it out 88-77 and I got to see a couple of nice dunks...a nice little change of pace after a week of water polo. While the pool has had the mascots and the scuba steve mascot at the basketball court there was a group of guys playing drums and bongos sitting high in the stands and then there was the random vuvuzela going in the crowd as well. Made for an interesting environment.

Big day tomorrow, a berth to the Olympic Games on the line...get pumped!
