How About That Bus Ride In?

Well today was mostly about buses. Riding on them, waiting for them, watching them crash into other cars. Today was a chance to see the women's team practice but this involved getting a bus to the village and then a bus to practice and then repeating that to get back. That alone accounted for several hours.

It was easy enough getting to the village catching the hourly bus. Got a chance to scope out the village, check out some of the photos, and also grab some lunch. They have a food court similar to that of the main press center. They also have a few different stores set up and a stage for daily concerts. The apartments for the athletes are cool as the different countries have decorated their windows with flags of the respective countries. There is also a gigantic tent that serves as the dining hall.

After scoping all of that out we loaded on a bus and headed about an hour away to practice. On the way our bus rear-ended another car. I was unlucky enough to smash into the seat in front of me but walked away with only a scrape underneath my eye, people will wonder what fight I got in and I will make up a new story every time because that is fun.

We got to the pool, an indoor facility that had our team practicing the same time as the men's team from Canada. Our men practiced this morning and took part in a scrimmage. Both teams will get a chance to practice at the competition venue on Saturday. The pool area is getting used for everything, swimming, synchro, diving and water polo. For example in Shanghai swimming and diving had their own facilities. So scheduling is key.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out the competition pool and will hopefully have some photos to post. The day closed with some fun as I was able to have dinner at an authentic mexican restaurant. A cool place with outdoor seating and a 12 piece mariachi band. A pretty cool experience.

I leave you now with a photo of the women's team posing with the mascots and also some links on how to possibly watch water polo at the Pan American Games.
